BONUS TREATS:
Private lessons provide you with the opportunity to focus on your dog's individual behavioral issues and training needs. Our clients take advantage of private lessons for basic manners and obedience, socialization issues with people and other animals (domestic and wildlife), puppy skills, walking properly on a loose leash, managing multiple a pet household, and a wide variety of problem behavioral issues such as aggression, resource guarding, fear and anxiety, jumping, bite inhibition, car motion sickness, and general destructive behavior.
Private lessons are always the fastest road to dog training success and have many advantages, including:
■ Training takes place at your home to maximize convenience, since the easier it is to complete the training the more likely you are to do it
■ Starting in your home, a familiar low-distraction environment, makes it easier for both you and your dog to acquire the skills needed
■ Starting in your home, a familiar low-distraction environment, makes it easier for both you and your dog to acquire the skills needed
■ Each program is custom designed to fit your individual needs. We’ll talk to you about your dogs history, your family composition, your goals and objectives, and then come up with a plan to meet all of your needs
■ Scheduling is flexible, we do not need to meet on the same day or time each week; and if you've scheduled a vacation or have any other commitment and need to skip a week we can work within your schedule while still ensuring you get the results you want
■ You get 100% of the instructors time and undivided attention, so all the time is devoted to fine-tuning your skills to ensure you get the best results
■ Once you and your dog master the skills needed at home, we can help you take it out on the road, the trail, or wherever your dog needs or wants to go!
■ All family members can (and should) participate
The first training session typically runs between 1-1.5 hours, this will cover the intake, an assessment of the issues and your dogs reactions, a detailed verbal explanation on how to implement and be successful with your tailored training program while we show you physically how to successfully execute each part. Additional half hour or hour sessions can be scheduled if follow-up is necessary. I will give you the tools and information you need, answer your questions, and make sure you are comfortable implementing the training program before you start working with your dog on your own. Subsequent lessons are typically kept to no more than an hour so that the dog does not get tired/bored.
Every client asks how many lessons they will need and how often we should meet. My answer is always the same - that depends on your needs, what your goals are for you and your dog, how many behaviors you want to train, the behavioral problems of your dog, the time you have to dedicate to training and many other factors. Typically, at least 4-5 lessons are needed to get started. During those first few lessons is when we’ll decide together how much and how often we’ll need to work together.
Please contact us with any questions you may have. Your Fur-Baby Is Our #1 Priority, and as such we want nothing more than to help build a wonderful relationship between you and your dog, and make them the model citizen he/she wants to be!
My name is Terry and I am a CAB (Certified Animal Behaviorist), specializing in understanding and resolving behavior through evidence-based practice, careful observation, and compassionate intervention. My work focuses on identifying the underlying emotional, environmental, and physiological factors that drive behavior, rather than relying on surface-level corrections.
I approach each case with the belief that behavior is communication, not defiance. By analyzing context, stressors, learning history, and human-animal interactions, I design practical behavior plans that prioritize animal welfare while remaining realistic for the people involved.
Known for my calm presence, clear explanations, and emphasis on clarity and education, I excel at helping guardians, handlers, and professionals reframe "problem behaviors" into solvable patterns. My goal is not simply compliance, but sustainable change in wellbeing and relationships built on a solid foundation of trust, safety, and understanding.
My work often bridges the gap between science and everyday application- making complex behavioral concepts accessible, ethical, and actionable. Ultimately, I help repair relationships, not just modify behavior by translating complex behavioral science into practical strategies that clients can understand and apply with confidence. I notice what others miss and see patterns before they escalate, and while others become reactive and rush to "correct", punish, or control, I remain steady stop - and watch. I read tension in posture, hesitation in movement, and intention in timing. I know where my ethical line is and I do not cross it. Animals respond to me not because I force outcomes, but because I create safety. I don't speak for animals; I simply help others learn how to hear them and I can explain complex behavior in simple terms. At the core of my work is a commitment to aligning science, ethics, and compassion- helping animals feel safer in their environments and helping people learn to truly see and understand the animals in their care.
My Defining Belief: "Nothing behaves without a reason. Find the reason, and the behavior will tell you what to do next."
